There’s A Party Goin’ On!

This year I want to celebrate my birthday by giving you all the chance to rummage thru the torn out pages of my diary, the masks I wore in previous lives, the armor that protected me in violent battles and come away with new tunes to fill your head, but not empty your wallet. I’m talking about a massive birthday sale!

For the weekend of Friday, September 25th (my birthday) thru Sunday, the 27th you will be able to purchase any album, t-shirt or poster for only $5 a pop. Take advantage of this birthday sale, and let your friends know (in the words of Wanda Jackson) there’s a party goin’ on!

Love,
Shane

This Just In!

Thanks to everyone that came out to our Neumos show the other night. It was great having my old pal Zach Urban playing some blues harp with us. Zach was in the very first band I put together back in 6th grade. I wrote one of my first songs about him, too. Until about a year ago I hadn’t seen him in forever, he left the northwest for much of high school and our early 20’s. We reconnected about a year ago, when he moved back to Seattle, and it didn’t take long for us to start collaborating again.

Luckily, for us he is a great blues harpist! You can watch a video clip of us playing “Lost Myself Again” below. While the sound is pretty blown out on the lil digital camera, you can feel the power in the performance. With the “San Diego boys”, The Chromettes and now Zach Urban backing me up, we are a force to be reckoned with!

Also – check out the updated concert calendar – there are some exciting shows coming in September and October.

Until next time,
goodnight and good luck,

Shane.

The Latest

“Shouting At A Silent Sky” is now available for order thru our website. For only $9.99, including shipping, its a pretty sweet deal. If you’d rather pick it up at a local record store they are currently stocked at Easy Street Records (Queen Anne and West Seattle), Sonic Boom (Ballard, Capitol Hill) and Every Day Music (Capitol Hill). Soon they will be at more shops around Seattle.

Today, emusic.com‘s free download-of-the-day is “Death & Texas”, if you don’t already have the album – here’s your chance to be add a song to your iTunes playlist for free.

Our first club show since the album’s physical release will be Sunday, August 16th at Neumo’s in Capitol Hill. Come on out for a great full night of music, we will be sandwiched between opener Ghost of Kyle Bradford and headliner Micheal Vermillion – two of my favorite music-makers.

And to close – I’d like to thank everyone who came out to our in-store at Easy Street last week to celebrate our album’s release – the album is now the #1 seller on their local chart! Thank you.

Love, Shane

Pre-order ‘Shouting’ CD!

Hey Friends – you can now pre-order ‘Shouting At A Silent Sky’ directly from us at http://www.shanetutmarc.com! The album has been available for digital download through iTunes since June 11th, but for $1 cheaper you can order the real thing directly from the band.

If you’re in Seattle come on out to our show at the Tractor this Sunday. We are opening for the legendary Junior Brown, and we are pulling out all the stops. With our normal drummer out of town, we have Mark Pickerel augmenting this 9-piece band. We will have the lovely Chromettes (Mia, Alicia & Fiia), we’ll have Ryan Richter playing his beautiful hand-crafted Lap Steel, Brendan Bosworth laying down the law with his bass, and Ty Bailie blowin’ our minds with his inspired piano ticklin’.

Hope to see you there!
Shane

The Day Has Arrived

Shouting at a Silent Sky is now available at iTunes! Today is an action-packed day, firstly – tune in to KEXP (90.3 in Seattle or kexp.org worldwide) at NOON TODAY to hear us live with host Cheryl Waters. Then tonight at 8pm we are playing the Sunset Tavern for the Noise for the Needy Festival. Doors open at 8pm and we are on first, so get there early!

I have 7 other musicians joining me. Let me sing their praises a bit: starting with the usual cast of characters – Ryan Richter is playing a beautiful lap steel guitar that he designed himself, Brendan Bosworth is a bass wizard, and Brian (Brendan’s kid brother) Bosworth hits all the sweet spots with his drum kit. Now especially for today’s big events (album release on iTunes, performance on KEXP, and show at the Sunset) I was able to get some of the big guns from the album sessions. Johnny Sangster, who produced the album and played most of the lead guitar work, is joining us with his Gibson SG, Ty Bailie who created many “spotlight” moments on the album is blessing us with his piano/B3 work, and last but certainly not least THE CHROMETTES! The “Chromettes” is actually just a pet name for three very gifted, very versatile vocalists – Mia Katherine Boyle, Alicia Dara, and Fiia McGann. They are the backing singers on the album, and I am so
stoked to have them performing with us today.

Don’t forget to pick up the album today at iTunes!

Love,
Shane

Shouting at a Silent Sky – This Thursday!

Ladies and Gentlemen – There is a lot going on over here at Shane Tutmarc HQ.  Not only does Shouting At A Silent Sky hit iTunes on Thursday, but we also have a KEXP in-studio and Noise For the Needy Festival show at the Sunset that night.

To make these shows extra special, we’ve expanded the line-up to an 8-piece band!  With the Chromettes (Mia Katherine Boyle, Alicia Dara, and Fiia McGann) singing back-up, Johnny Sangster on lead guitar, and Ty Bailie behind the keys we can perfectly capture these multi-layered album productions.

Also, “Never Turnin’ Back” is the featured song right now at Sound on the Sound, and starting tomorrow they will be posted the first part of a multi-part interview that digs deep into the album and my musical journey.  There will be much more to talk about as this week progresses.

More soon,

Shane
